Reflective writing on the progress and development within acting behind a camera.

When I discovered that we were going to be taking camera classes I was excited as this was something that wasn’t available for us to use last year. We have focused on solo camera work, and duo camera work as well as continuity within film and other techniques to help us prepare for camera work and possible auditions that could take place in the future. Duologue work behind the camera is interesting as it gives you a lot of different options and directions to work with. When me and Lauren were rehearsing together we discovered a variety of ways we could take our scene scaling from sinister to loving. We used this rehearsal process to create a heavy tension within our scene that was clearly noticeable within our scenes shown through our eye contact and posture. Something else that extremely helps and enables a good scene behind camera is actioning your script, in addition to that, learning your partners actions too enables your reaction to be true and a lot more clear. Actioning your...

REFLECTIVE WRITING ON MY SINGING PROGRESS AND ASSESSMENT.

At the beginning of the semester when I discovered we were going to have singing lessons I was extremely nervous and worried about what was going to happen as I have never properly participated within singing activities nor had I performed in front of an audience on my own before. To learn that the assessment would be based on a solo performance, my nerves and dread grew greater and greater. After my first lesson with Vic,, our teacher, I felt a lot more comfortable and confident with singing as a group and opening up my vocal chords. We took part in an activity where we placed socks under our armpits and sung whilst opening our vocals allowing vibrations to occur through our backs., We then partnered up and allowed our partner to hear the vibration from our vocals, I said the words ‘ahhh’ as my partner could feel the vibrations coming through on my back, we then swapped and I felt my partners vibrations through her back, if she was not quite opening her back enough I helped her adjust...

Reflective writing on Performance Skills Module (Sep/Oct 2017)

The explicit development of the character 'Samantha Brent' and the reflection of the development process for the piece 'Misuse and Abuse'. To begin this development process, I had focussed on stories my mum has shared with me before about very difficult, loud and sometimes aggressive patients. She also explained that more often than not, patients who don't need ambulance assistance still persist and call the ambulance service which is misusing the NHS' money. This initial thought process inspired me to create a character who would certainly draw attention to herself and cause a scene. We had to then close our eyes and imagine our character in a busy train station, this allowed us to think of specific details about our character, we also wrote down different facts, and thoughts about our characters included secrets, their age and their dislikes. This was personally helpful for me as it allowed me to explicitly develop my character and have some form of foundat...
